Thus, Sze Fei-Izzuddin needs to collect as many points as possible in Denmark, France, and Germany to stand a chance to feature in their first World Tour Finals.

Only the top eight pairs in the World Tour rankings will make it to the World Tour Finals. Currently, the duo is in sixth place, are in a battle with fifth-placed independent pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi to qualify.

This is because compatriots Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, who are in the ninth spot, have automatically made the cut because of their world title win in August.

Despite the huge challenge Sze Fei-Izzuddin faces, doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky remains calm as it is normal for tournament cancellations due to the pandemic.

They need to accept the situation and get more points in the balance tournaments. Sze Fei-Izzuddin needs to believe in themselves, and they can stand a chance of qualifying for the Finals.

Rexy said the pairs are doing well in training. Although they had lost a few tournaments, Sze Fei’s confidence was affected, and he will need to regain this to do better. He didn’t want to push them too hard, and they injured themselves. Their main priority is the 2024 Paris Olympic qualification.
