S. Kisona Need To Polish Her Skills And Strength

S. Kisona ends her game at the recent Vietnam Open by entering the last eight. National women’s singles coach James Chua said she needs to work on her strength.

The Vietnam Open quarter-final is Kisona’s first quarter-final since March. James started to coach her in July and admitted that she still needs to work on several aspects of her game to keep progressing.

Kisona Is Still A Work In Progress

James mentioned that Kisona’s performance in the Vietnam Open was OK, but her stamina wasn’t strong enough in the quarter-final after the two tough matches in the first two rounds. She needs to work on her strength and skills on the front court.

Kisona was once the gold medalist in the 2019 Philippines SEA Games, but injuries have disrupted her progress. She won the Spanish International last year but experienced a downturn after that. She reached the quarter-finals in the Swiss Open in March but didn’t get past the first round in other tournaments before the Vietnam Open. In the latest world ranking, Kisona is ranked No.46.

James wants Kisona to regain her confidence, and her next tournament will be the Indonesian International Challenge and the Indonesia Masters. He hopes that Kisona can perform better in the next match but won’t be putting too much pressure on her. He wants her to focus on playing and win round by round.
