Nguyen Tien Minh Remains Determined Despite Aged 40

Nguyen Tien Minh is currently 39 years old and will be turning 40 in the next few months. However, despite his age, he is also considered as one of the older veterans that is still actively playing badminton.

Born in Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Minh has been in the badminton game since the days of his great contemporaries which are China’s Lin Dan and Malaysian legend Lee Chong Wei. Adding to that, Nguyen still travels around the world for competitions.

Tien Minh Inspires The Younger Generation

Throughout his career, Tien Minh was ranked as high as the worlds Top 5th badminton player that has led to some speculating that he can top off Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan.

Another highlight of his career is when Tien Minh manages to obtain a bronze medal back in 2013 during the World Championships and had also manage to win 10 Grand Prix Tittles.

Tien Minh has recently participated in the Vietnam Open where he competed with several other veteran players but unfortunately lost in the first round to Sun Feixiang of China. Eventually Feixiang became the runner up but also lost 10-21, 21-14, 21-17 to Kodai Naraoka of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.

Many of the other competitors and younger shuttlers are amazed with Tien Minh’s determination with it comes to playing badminton. Some even mentions that it is tiring to play against him as players considers him as a tough opponent beyond the net.

Reported recently, Tien Minh is currently playing for the Ho Chi Minh City Badminton Club (HCMCBC) at the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam and yesterday he managed to win against Kittipong Imnark 11-2, 8-11, 11-7, 6-11, 11-8 in the second men’s singles but unfortunately was not able to stop Sena Bangkok Club (SEBC) from going home with a 13-9 win.

Tien Minh is determined to continue with his dream to inspire the younger generation with his skills and gameplay and mentions that he wishes to reach 500 wins before retiring.
