Newcastle To Sign Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio Amid Rival ‘Deal’

Newcastle have reportedly intended to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid, although another transfer deal could see him go elsewhere.

Asensio is in the final year of his Real Madrid contract. Reports suggest he has no interest in a contract extension, so his aim is to secure a move to another big European club.

Will Marco Asensio Stay or Leave for Newcastle or Other Offers?

The winger has been on the radar of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea over the past few months. But now Newcastle seems to be trying their hardest to take him in.

They hope to beat any other interested club to get his signature and plan to submit an offer in January.

The winter transfer window is Real Madrid’s last chance to receive any money for Asensio. The Spaniard could leave the Bernabeu for free next summer if they reject the January approaches for him.

Newcastle is looking for a new winger as they aim to challenge the “Big Six” and Asensio would be the perfect addition. He is a player with international and Champions League experience who also won many trophies during his time at Real Madrid.

The report did not reveal how much Newcastle made an offer for Asensio, or whether Real Madrid would accept it immediately.

Unfortunately for Newcastle fans, they shouldn’t be too excited about his possible arrival at St James’ Park because the Sporting Witness article points to other reports in Spain that claim Asensio has reached a “deal” for a separate move.

They have hinted that he is on the verge of a free transfer to Real’s arch-rivals Barcelona in the summer of 2023. Asensio has also agreed to a four-year contract at Camp Nou.

The 26-year-old could have moved from Real Madrid to Barca earlier this month which would be a very brave move for him to make.

Few people directly swap one Spanish giant for another. When they did, it sparked huge controversy such as how Barca fans treated Luis Figo after his move from the Blaugrana to Real Madrid in 2000.

If Asensio takes that into consideration, he’d better try a new league and come to England. If he chooses this option, Newcastle is ready and waiting to snap him up.
