Lonzo Ball is expected to undergo another knee surgery, to be re-evaluated in 4-6 weeks
How soon will Lonzo Ball be back? When was Lonzo Ball born? Who will go first in his place? It was evident that Lonzo Ball’s condition, who will soon have another knee operation that will keep him out of action for at least 4-6 weeks, was the main topic of discussion at the Chicago Bulls media day on Monday. For a Bulls club that has been without Lonzo Ball since January of last season, when he first tore his meniscus, it is a major blow.
He was supposed to return in 4-6 weeks at the time, but due to delays in recovery, he overshot that deadline and never played for Chicago again the following season. The Bulls will have to begin the season without their primary point guard as it was revealed last week that he will require a second surgery on the same knee on Wednesday.
In an interview with the media on Tuesday, Lonzo Ball discussed his injuries and said that he still experiences pain in his left knee whether he tries to sprint, jump, or even climb a flight of stairs.
In a video chat with reporters, Lonzo Ball stated, “There was a period where we would warm up and whatnot, and I would go through certain days and it would be great.” “When it came time for me to participate in real basketball activities, I was unable to. Unfortunately, this is the situation and it has to be resolved. Again, we think that surgery is the best course of action.”
With regard to how long it takes to go back on the floor, Lonzo Ball regarded his position as unusual.
It’s obviously a unique circumstance, Lonzo Ball added, since “I’ve never felt pain like this or been able to ramp up a little bit but never totally.” “Both the Bulls and the physicians are attempting to identify what it is. We all agreed, as I’ve already mentioned, that it’s time for surgery.”
Lonzo Ball said he doesn’t believe he’ll be forced to miss the full season, but he is more concerned about his knee’s recovery than considering a timetable for a return.
Lonzo Ball added, “That would be the worst-case scenario, but that’s not on my thoughts right now. “I’ve reached the realization that I can’t return to the field of play unless I feel confident and capable of doing so. So when that time comes, I’ll be wearing the jersey once again.”
It’s not a great way for Chicago to start the season, especially given that the Bulls’ first three games of the season will be against the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Boston Celtics. However, Chicago will have to continue playing without Lonzo Ball for the time being, necessitating the selection of a starting point guard in his place. While some would have anticipated that head coach Billy Donovan would reveal Ball’s replacement on Monday’s Media Day, he is holding off until the conclusion of training camp.
