Djokovic Bothered With Wrist Issue

Novak Djokovic has been absent from the Tour recently. He said he was bothered by a wrist problem during the Laver Cup.

The three-day tournament in London was Djokovic’s first event since the Serb won his 21st Grand Slam singles title at Wimbledon in early July.

Djokovic had missed the North American hardcourt swing and the U.S. Open because he wasn’t being vaccinated against COVID-19. But he produced a dazzling performance by winning his singles and doubles matches on Saturday.

Djokovic said he had been struggling with his wrist injury during the match but kept it under control. But it still affects his game as he couldn’t serve fast or accurately.

Djokovic said his goal is still qualifying for November’s ATP Finals. He will be playing a tournament in Tel Aviv, followed by an event in Kazakhstan and the Paris Masters.

He will get a sport for the Tour-ending Finals if he remains his rank in the world’s top 20. Djokovic is currently ranked seventh.

Djokovic said his wrist issue might be due to a combination of factors. There were conditions here and there. He will need to generate a lot of wrist action and speed during the match, causing him soreness.
