Selangor badminton player Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin wants to secure the men’s singles gold at Sukma. He missed his chance of getting it four years ago at Perak.
The 22 years old player will not throw his towel even though he needs to upstage several national players.
Aidil will face several players, such as Tze Yong, Lim Chong King, Justin Ho, Jack Kok, Shaqeem Eiman Shahyar, and many more, who will challenge the men’s singles crown.
Tan Jia Wei, who won at the Perak Sukma in 2018, caused Aidil to miss his chance of getting the gold medal. The Johor edition was postponed and later canceled due to the pandemic, which again caused Aidil to miss the chance of aiming for the title.
If not for the National Sports Council changing the Kuala Lumpur Games from Under-21 to Under-23 event, Aidil would have missed his chance again for the title. Aidil said he would give his best shot even though there would be many good players at the game.
Aidil Will Have A Tough Time This Time
Tze Yong and Aidil have been from the same batch since their junior days. Aidil hasn’t played with him for a long time, and Tze Yong has improved greatly. It won’t be easy for Aidil. Even though there were many other good players in the match, Aidil said he had nothing to lose.
Aidil and the presence of nearly the whole single squad from BAM are expected to bring in a crowd when the competition is held at the Axiata Arena. It is also expected to be a metal toughness test for Tze Yong.
