Aaron Chia’s MRI Result is Positive and He is Ready for Denmark Open After Marriage

Aaron Chia who currently the Men’s doubles world champion, can breathe a sigh of relief after he confirmed he was cleared of any serious injury that could derail his badminton career as his Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan has come out with positive result.

Aaron explained that he had the shoulder pain during the world championships but he did not focus on it while on the matches. “But I’m glad, it’s not a big worry anymore,” Chia sigh of relief.

The 25 years old player said, “Now, I can fine tune for my preparation for my wedding … so many things to do, never thought I will be this busy.”

Aaron’s wedding day with Goh Mui Kee will be held on Malaysia Day at September 16. After the wedding, Aaron and his partner Soh Wooi Yik will shift his attention to the Denmark Open from Oct 18-23 in Odense.

“Wooi Yik and I are aware that all eyes will be on us when we make a return to the competition as the world champions. There will be higher expectations from everyone for sure but we just hope that we can stay focused and humble when we are on court,” said Aaron.

In the Denmark Open, they are in the 4th seeds which has drawn attention from all the top pairs, including No. 1 seeds Marcus Fernaldi-Kevin Sanjaya, Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan, Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto of Indonesia; Japan’s Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi; Denmark’s Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen; and India’s Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy.

“We hope to qualify and do well in the Finals this year, but we will not put undue pressure on ourselves. We just want to end the year on a good note,” said by Aaron on their goal in the World Tour Finals in Guangzhou, China.

As the duo Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik are currently lying ninth in the Road to Guangzhou ranking, they have to get their rank up in order to make the cut for the Finals. The two Malaysian pairs ahead of them are Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi (fifth) and Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani (sixth).
