Daniel Cormier UFC Heavyweight Champ To Fight Brock Lesnar on WWE Match

Just a few years ago in 2018, WWE star Brock Lesnar crashed the cage at the end of UFC 226 in response to a call from UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. It looks like Lesnar has a chance to return to the UFC for a big fight with Cormier. WWE even promoted the fight on its website. However, the fight never happened, perhaps because of disagreements over money.

Daniel Cormier Called Out Brock Lesnar on UFC 226 in 2018

Cormier and Lesnar shared the Octagon at UFC 226 more than four years ago. That night, Cormier defeated Stipe Miocic by a first-round knockout to win the UFC heavyweight Championship and become the two-division champion, as he is also the defending UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. After the fight, Cormier took the microphone and demanded Lesnar to get into the octagon.

Lesnar rose from the front seat without hesitation, granting Cormier’s wish. With a smile on his face, Lesnar calmly walked over to the new double champion and shoved him back. It looked like the two were clashing for a future fight, but it never happened.

Cormier is a longtime fan of professional wrestling. Now that he’s retired from Octagon, he’s finally joined WWE, making (at least) a one-off appearance at Extreme Rules this weekend, when he referees the pit-fight match between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle.

Cormier has often expressed his love for professional wrestling, and many fans hope he will eventually compete. But will the long-awaited battle with Lesnar take place in Squared Circle? The former champion spoke about this in a new interview with ESPN.

However, the WWE Crown Jewel is set to take place in Saudi Arabia in November, and there are rumors that Lesnar may be returning to WWE for that match. That makes sense considering Brock rarely misses Saudi’s big payday.

Naturally, some fans have speculated that Lesnar vs. Cormier could be part of WWE’s Crown Jewel program.

Not so fast, according to Cormier. He told ESPN’s Mark Raimondi that while the idea makes sense, it hasn’t materialized yet.
