Football Association Malaysia Taking Steps to Prevent Indonesian Football Tragedy in Malaysia

Football Association Malaysia was shocked by the death of 174 individuals that were reported to have occurred in Indonesia last Saturday, The Football Association Malaysia (FAM) are currently taking the situation as a learning circumstance and ensure that such incident will be prevented from happening in Malaysia Football.

Thousands of furious football fans have gathered together within Malang, Java during a league match. The Indonesian police crew responded with tear gas that coherently triggered a stampede which caused fans to be trampled upon or suffocated as they rush for the exit

FAM secretary-general Noor Azman announced recently that the national body will exercise extensive security measures to prevent such an incident to occur in Malaysia.

Noor Azman then mentions that FAM would have to review the standard operating procedures (SOP) on regards to the entry of supporters into stadiums as well.

Gianni Infantino Expresses Condolences

Messages of condolences for Indonesia have come in from top clubs around the world, including from Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona.

Even Fifa President Gianni Infantino said and quoted “The football world is in a state of shock following the tragic incidents that have taken place in Indonesia at the end of the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya at the Kanjuruhan Stadium”

Followed by “This is a dark day for all involved in football and a tragedy beyond comprehension. I extend my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims who lost their lives following this tragic incident.”

And concluded with “Together with Fifa and the global football community, all our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, those who have been injured, together with the people of the Republic of Indonesia, the Asian Football Confederation, the Indonesian Football Association, and the Indonesian Football League, at this difficult time.”

The Malaysian Football Fraternity has also sent messages of condolences to their Indonesian counterparts recently. The FAM, Malaysian Football league and the National Footbal development Programme all sent their own condolences message to Indonesia.

After receiving a plethora of different condolences messages from Football associations and Football fans around the world, Asian Football Confederation president Shaikh Salman Ebrahim Al Halida expressed his explicit emotions over the tragic loss of lives.

He then stated “Let’s hope this incident doesn’t happen again, and let it serve as a lesson to all”
