Nick Kyrgios Assault Charge Adjourned to Prepare Mental Health Documents

Nick Kyrgios’s lawyer has recently publicized that Kyrgios will be applying to have an assault charge dismissed based on mental health grounds as reported from the Australian Court from Tuesday.

Michael Kukulies-Smith (Kyrgios’s Lawyer) has appeared on behalf of Kyrgios in court of the tennis star’s hometown in Canberra and had asked for an adjournment to inform that forensic mental health reports could be prepared.

Magistrate Glenn Theakston adjourned the case until February 3, when Kyrgios lawyers are expected to apply to have the charge dismissed under a section of the local crimes law. The Australian tennis star will then appear in court physically on a settled date for the first time since the time he was charged by police summons in July.

Contextually, the law provides the magistrates the power to dismiss a charge if the accused person is mentally unstable and dealing with allegations that would benefit the community and the defendant
