Aaron Judge Hit His 62nd Home Run, Surpassed Roger Maris’ 61st

On Tuesday night, Aaron Judge hit his 62nd home run of the season, breaking a deadlock with Roger Maris of the New York Yankees, who famously hit 61 in 1961. Judge also surpassed 60th home run of Babe Ruth in 1927 and 59th home run of his contemporary teammate Giancarlo with the Miami Marlins in 2017.

Aaron Judge Hit His 62nd Home Run In The Season Which Set AL Home Run Record

In front of an expectant crowd at Globe Life Field, the New York Yankees slugger moved his 1-1 slider from Texas Rangers right-hander Jesus Tinoco to left field seats, clinching the top of the first inning in the second game. In his penultimate game of the regular season, Judge finally surpassed Marisā€™s 61 after beating Babe Ruth’s 60 in in the 1927 exactly 61 years after his predecessor set the mark for the 1961 Yankees.

The historic feat adds to Judge’s sensational season. He was batting .310 with a 1.106 OPS and 130 RBIs when he came out Tuesday. He’s also running for another of his accolades, the Triple Crown, to add to his accomplishments this year.

He had been off for almost two months. The Aug. 5 game in St. Louis was his last day with the lineup. Still, after hitting his 60th home run against Pittsburgh two weeks ago, Judge rose up with 53 batting averages, reaching base 27 times for a .509 on-base percentage amid the elevating pressure. In response, the Judge were forced to eat a steady diet of dubious pitches instead of the inside Fare they ate throughout his banner year.

The beauty of Judge’s home run is its uniqueness. He has a 16-home run advantage over Kyle Schwarberā€™s 46, while Mike Trout’s 39 is currently second in the AL. He has maintained a 100-point OPS advantage for most of the season.
