Jin Wei Fails To Win In Vietnam Open

Goh Jin Wei may have missed her chance to win her first World Tour title, but her coach Nova Armada sees playing in the Vietnam Open final as a victory.

Jin Wei had to play three games in her previous two rounds before the final. Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuy Linh served her a blow with a 21-15, 21-13 win in 32 minutes.

This was the first defeat to the world No. 58 Vietnamese for Jin Wei. She won in all three previous encounters at the Asia Team Championships (2018), Singapore International Series (2017), and Vietnam International Series (2015).

Nova was glad that Jin Wei completed a tournament without breaking down. She is confident that Jin Wei will get herself in a position to win a world title soon.

She is satisfied with Jin Wei’s performance as she played in rubber games in the last two matches. Jin Wei must slowly play her way up, be mindful of her fitness, and avoid injuries.

This will be her main concern. For now, Jin Wei needs to focus on improving her world ranking into the top 32. She can then qualify for tournaments above super 500 and avoid playing qualifying rounds.

The qualifying rounds have been destroying her chances as she must play two matches daily. Her current condition doesn’t allow her to do that.

Jin Wei had reigned as the country’s best but had not won any major title. She was affected by her stomach ailment in 2019.
