Kok Xian Wants To Earn A Spot At BAM

Doubles shuttler Tan Kok Xian hopes to earn a spot in the national set-up.

Kok Xian had just won a gold medal in the men’s double in Sukma, which he partnered with Tee Kai Wun. He hopes that the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will at least consider him for selection to prove himself.

Kok Xian mentioned he played with Kai Wun in a few national tournaments about five years ago and was happy they were paired to play in Sukma. He was all out to win the gold medal.

He hopes he can join the national team and his performance will be noted. He was once rejected by BAM when he was 17. He hopes they can give him another chance to join the selection again.

Kai Wun has established himself as one of the elite men’s doubles pairs in BAM, along with Man Wei Chong. But for Kok Xian, he is still finding a place as an independent player.
Kok Xian is now partnering with Tan Yi Han. They have been paired up for around a year. They are currently ranked 214th in the world.

Kok Xian is grateful that he had the opportunity to play with Kai Wun and has learned a lot from him. Kok Xian will want to maintain his good form in the Vietnam Open as he plays with Yi Han. The pair will be playing against Japan’s Keigo Sonoda-Mahiro Kaneko.
