England 3-3 Germany on Monday night in an exciting UEFA Nations League group final at Wembley Stadium. England initially took a two-goal lead before attain a draw against Germany at the end of the match.
Goals Review on England 3-3 Germany
Second-half goals from Ilkay Gundogan and Kai Havertz looked to put Germany on course for victory, but Luke Shaw and Mason Mount levelled the score within five minutes. VAR then awarded England a penalty which Harry Kane converted to a brief lead for the home side before Havertz scored the final score in the second game of the night.
With England already relegated to the second tier of the competition, Germany moved into third place on their final matchday, but this game is all the more important for the Three Lions as it marks their final test ahead of the start of November 20th World Cup.
England’s Raheem Sterling had the best chance to score for either side midway through the first half, but his tame effort was swept away by Marc-Andre ter Stegen after he shrewdly cut in to get a clear look at the goal.
Gareth Southgate’s side continued to look dangerous on the counter-attack but there was no final result, with Sterling firing on Ter Stegen again after a full run to put Kane’s ball is brought into the area.
Gundogan scored Germany’s first goal from the penalty spot early in the second half after Harry Maguire fouled Jamal Musiala in the penalty area. After 15 minutes, Havertz curled a perfect shot in from distance that left Nick Pope no chance.
70 minutes passed, and what seemed unlikely soon became a reality, with Shaw and substitute Mount hitting back to bring the game back to level and the home support back to life.
Nico Schlotterbeck’s imprint on Jude Bellingham’s ankle earned him a yellow card and gave England a chance to take the lead from the spot, which Kane did with composure, which Delight the loyal fans at Wembley Stadium.
However, a poor shot from Pope put a long shot into Havertz’s path and side footed into the net to make it 3-3.
Bukayo Saka scored in second-half stoppage time to give England a chance to score, but Ter Stegen’s shot went over the post.
England will face Iran, the United States and Wales in Group B in Qatar, while the German will face Japan, Spain and Costa Rica in Group E.
