For The Second Time Houston Astros’ Álvarez Named American League Player of The Week

Yordan Álvarez was named the American League Player of the Week for the second time this season. From 12th to 18th September, the Houston Astros slugger opened a home run clinic with five stretching. On Friday, his three home runs marked the third time the Astros batters have done so while the other two are Jeff Bagwell (three) and Glenn Davis (twice).

Leading the American League in home runs, Álvarez slashed .520/.556/1.280, slugging percentage and runs scoring at 10. The southpaw also hit four doubles and ran 10 times in his exaggerated week.

Alex Bregman was the only Houston slugger to start the season from April 7-10 to be named Player of the Week. Álvarez’s second weekly honour marks his third seasoned award for June’s American League Player of the Month award.
